Education of Soil and Water Conservation in China

Guo Tingfu et al. (Rural Conservancy and Soil and Water Conservation Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, Beijing)
Seciality of soil and water conservation began to be set up in institutions of higher education of China in 1958. With the flourishing development of soil and water conservation work, the cause of education of soil and water conservation developed rapidly. The speciality of soil and water conservation had been set up in eight universities, twelve polytechnic colleges or schools and four institutes forming basically a regular edu-cation system and in-service training system. A great deal of technical personnel of soil and water conserva-tion have been trained. But still, the technical personnel can not meet the demands of present work. In light of problems existing at present, such as dispersion of management of specialized education, insufficient of funding and shortage of teachers, the authors put forward views and suggestions on further developing the education of soil and water conservation.
