Characteristics of Soil Erosion in Ximeng County Based on USLE

The paper comprehensively analyzed the characteristics of temporal and spatial variation of soil erosion and the conditions of soil erosion under different gradients of environmental factors by using USLE as a model and ArcG IS software for studying the influence of soil erosion in Ximeng County region to the local natural environment. The outcomes show that a) the soil erosion modulus of Ximeng County in 2000 and2010 are 39. 75 t /( hm~2·a) and 39. 04 t/( hm~2·a) respectively,belonging to the degree of medium erosion. The areas of severe erosion and extremely strong erosion during the period of 2000-2010 have been reduced 16. 49% and 4. 64% respectively and the area of medium erosion has been increased by 1 479 hm~2; b) on spatial distribution aspect,the soil erosion of the county basically is lighter in the northeast and more serious in the middle,southwest and southeast regions. The variation of spatial distribution of soil erosion in the period of 2000-2010 is not great. Among townships of the county,the soil erosion area and the variation of soil erosion area of Mengsuo Town is the largest;the degree of soil erosion of Yuesong Town is the most severe; the degrees of soil erosion of Xinchang Town and Zhongke Town are relatively lighter and; c) the soil erosion mainly happens in 5°-35° region,the soil erosion degree of dry land with slope greater than 15°,grassland and bushes is more severe. Therefore,is should adopt measures suiting local conditions to control it according to different types of land use.
