THE SEASONAL DESERTIFICATION-CLIMATE ENVIRONMENT IN THE COASTAL AREAS OF THE YELLOW SEA AND BOHAI SEA

The climate in coastal areas of the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea is mainly controlled bythe East-Asia continental air mass and the West- Pacific oceanic air mass, During winter and springseasons,these areas are controlled by the East- Asia continental air mass, which causes an arid andwindy desertization- climate environment with rare precipitation,low air humidity,high dailytemperature difference, high aridity and frequent strong winds.The climatic conditions in the coastalareas of the Bohai Sea in winter and spring (from November to May)are quite similar to those in theinland desert and desertified areas in the north and northwest parts of China.In the coastal areas of theYellow Sea, strong winds are frequent and the climate is very dry in winter,thus these areas are alsodesertification-prone areas.While during summer and early autumn, precipitation is quite sufficientand wind is infrequent and weak in the study area, the climate is very favourable for plant growth.Sowe say that the coastal areas of the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea are subjected to the impact ofseasonal desertification-climate environment.
