AIM: To investigate the chemical constituents from the seeds of Alpinia katsumadai Hayata. METHODS: Compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography with silica gel and Sephadex LH-20, and their structures were identified on the basis of physiochemical properties and spectroscopic data. RESULTS: Ten compounds are isolated and elucidated as trans, trans-1, 7-diphenyl-5-hydroxy-4,6-hepten-3-one (1), pinocembrin (2), alpinetin (3), 7, 4′-dihydroxy-5-methoxy flavanone (4), helichrysetin (5), uvangoletin (6), (1E, 4Z)-5-hydroxy-1-phenyl-hexa-1, 4-dien-3-one (7), katsumadain B (8), rhodomollein I (9), and aurantiamide acetate (10). CONCLUSION: Compound 7 was a new natural product. Compounds 9 and 10 were isolated from the genus for the first time.
