THE POLYMORPHISM OF M. SMEGMATIS

Ma XiaoLing, et al Department of Microbiology, Bengbu Medical College, Bengbu 233003
The growth process of M. smegmatis was observed carefully with slide culture. The result shows that during early stage, some of granulae were seen, then the granulae maturated into normal acid-fast bacilli and finally into filaments. Lerge bodies oan be seen in the center or at the end of some filaments. This was similar to Bacteria L-forms in many ways. With cell wall staining, some granulae and filaments were-shown to be defective on cell wall.
