EFFECT OF GALACTOOLIGOSACCHARIDES ON GROWTH OF BIFIDOBACTERIA IN VIVO AND IN VITRO

Objective:Galactooligosacchrides (GOS) were prepared from lactose by transgalactosylation by immobilized β-galactosidase. Methods:Trisaccharide and tetrasaccharide were purified by column chromatography. Results:It was verified by animial test and cultureing bifidobacteria in vitro that GOS had the physiological function of promoting growth of bifidobacteria efficiently and speciall. Conclusions:imocedure eliminates the need for preparation and purification of the plasmid.
