Protective effect of Spirulina supplement on microecology and growth of rats in chronic stress

Objective To evaluate the effect of Spirulina platensis inclusion in diets for rats in chronic stressful situation.Method Rats were divided randomly into three groups and one of the groups under chronic stress was fed 5% Spirulina in the diets.The empirical period was about 7 weeks.Result When compared to the experimental control,the amount of bifidobacterium and weight of the group feeding diets containing 5% Spirulina increased significantly while the amount of enterobacteria decreased correspondingly.Conclusion Spirulina can efficiently proliferate bifidobacterium and alleviate the gut microecological disturbance caused by the chronic stress.
