The relationship of Veillonella spp and C. coccoides subgroup levels in gut microbiota with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Uygurs and Kazaks of Xinjiang

Objective To explore the correlation between the target gut microbiota and type 2 diabetes mellitus( T2DM) in Uygurs and Kazaks of Xinjiang.Methods The fecal microbiota of NGT population and T2 DM patients in Kazak and Uygur in Xinjiang were compared by using 16 S r DNA real time PCR.Resluts( 1) 16 S r DNA real time PCR showed that in genus level,the abundancy of Veillonella spp and C.coccoides subgroups in Kazak T2 DM group was much higher than in Kazak NGT group( P = 0.035,P = 0.028).( 2) Partial correlation analysis showed that the level of Veillonella spp in gut microbiota of the four groups was positively correlated with the levels of weight and BMI( r = 0.469,P = 0.009; r = 0.623,P = 0.002),and it was negatively correlated with the level of HDL-C( r =-0.466,P = 0.025); the level of C.coccoides subgroup was positively correlated with the levels of weight,FBG and TG( r = 0.375,P = 0.049; r = 0.398,P = 0.033; r = 0.375,P = 0.041).Conclusion The changes of Veillonella spp and C.coccoides subgroups may be related to the onset of Type 2 diabetes mellitus in Uygurs and Kazaks.
