Gut homeostasis and metabolic syndrome

CHEN Run-ze;XIE Ao;The High School Attached to Dalian University of Technology;
Metabolic syndrome(MS)is a combination of medical disorders,including obesity and insulin resistance that increase the risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.Its etiology is still unclear.Environment,immunity and genetics may be the factor associated with the development of MS.Altered gut microbiota has been found in MS patient with a disruption of gut homeostasis.In conventional phsiological state,gut microbiota are closely associated with host nutrition,metabolism and immunity,and also depends on the host genome,nutrition and life-style.More knowledge obtained from the host-microbiota interplay will propose a realistic means for personal disease management.
