Clinical distribution and drug resistance of Klebsiella Pneumoniae isolated from pediatric wards

MA Qiaohong;CHEN Qunying;Laboratory Department of Ningbo Women and Children′s Hospital;
Objective To learn the clinical distribution and drug resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from the pediatric ward,neonatal ward and PICU,and provide guidance for clinical medication.Methods We collected 487 strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from the patients in pediatric ward,neonatal ward and PICU from January 1,2011 to December 31,2015.The clinical isolates were identified by using VITEK-2 analyzer(Bio-Merieux,France).Susceptibility test was done by using minimum inhibitory concentration method.Results Most of the 487 strains came from sputum specimens and nasopharyngeal swabs.The detection rate of ESBLs positive Klebsiella pneumoniae was between 35.3% and 42.7%.All the ESBLs positive Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were resistant to ampicillin,cephalosporins and aztreonam,while sensitive to carbopenems,aminoglycosides and quinolones.The sensitivity rate of ESBLs negative Klebsiella pneumoniae was higher than that of the positive ones.Conclusion The isolation,identification and determination of drug resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniae is important for guiding clinical use of antibiotics.
