Epidemiological characteristics of hand foot and mouth disease in Dunhua city 2010-2014

Objective To analyze hand foot and mouth disease and epidemiological characteristics in Dunhua city,provide the basis for the formulation of prevention and control measures. Methods Hand foot and mouth disease cases were collected from network report from 2010-2014 in Dunhua city,and descriptive epidemiological analysis was adopted for epidemiological characteristics. Results There were two morbidity peaks in the last 5 years and the peak period was from June to September. Characteristics of three-dimensional distribution was as follows: 1-5 years old was the age vulnerable to hand foot and mouth disease; children in kindergarten and scattered children were the high risk group of virus infection; Prevalence rate was higher in males than that in females,and higher in townships more than in urbans. Conclusion There is a peak of the epidemic of foot-and-mouth disease in two or three years in Dunhua city,overall incidence is on the rise.The majority of clinical types are normal cases,with less severe cases and no deaths. Type EV71 virus dominates,alternating with the popular COXA16 and other enteric viruses.
