Paint type WS-1 mainly contains polyvinyl alcohol, soft calcium carbonate, talc powder, formaldehyde, tetramethylthiuram disulfide, pyrethroid and stabilizer. In laboratory experiments, it inhibited Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, A. versicolor, A. clavatus, A. tamarii, A. ustulina, Alternaria alternata, Paecilomyces varioti, Candida albicans, Microsporum gypseum, Epidermophyton floccosum and Trichophyton rubrum, forming inhibition rings of 2.8～5.7 cm in diameter. It maintained its good anti-mildew activity after showering, ultraviolet irradiation or exposure to high temperature (50℃) for 72 hr. In field trial, the wall coated with the paint did not mildew in one year, while that coated with control paint containing no drug mildewed after two weeks.
