SIMPLE IMPROVEMENT OF ALUMINUM LUNCH-BOX USED IN AUTOCLAVING

In China , commercial aluminum lunch-box was used to hold medical appliances such as syringes for downward displacement autoclaving in some hospitals. The aluminum lunch-box is poor for penetration of gas, thus influencing the efficacy of sterilization. In order to improve the sterilization efficacy, the lid and bottom of the lunch-box were punched to form small holes which were then covered from inner side by adhesion of cotton cloth with chloroprene adhesive, thus both facilitating the entrance of steam and exhaustion of air and preventing recontamination after sterilization. It was demonstrated in experiment that syringes put in such improved lunch-box could be sterilized satisfactorily by autoclaving at 121 掳C for 30 min and were free from recontamination after storage for 2 weeks , while those in commercial aluminum lunch-box could not be sterilized until autoclaving for 70 min at same steam temperature.
