GAO Xinang, DONG Zhao - wen , TAN Yong - ping , et al. Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Peking Union Medical College and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences , Beijing 100005 , China
Objective To estimate the prevalence of Chlamydia Trachomatis ( CT) infection in university students and explore effective way to screen CT infection. Methods and Results 2050 university students in Beijing were randomly selected in June 1999, and the first catch urine (FCU) samples were collected from each of them to detect CT infection. 1935 effective FCU samples were returned. CT DNA was extracted and detected Using Pooling of urine specimens by PCR and ELJSA , in which 3 were positive. Conclusions Results of this study show that pooling of FCU samples for PCR testing is a recommendable measure in population of low infectious rate, and reproductive health education targeting the college students should focus on the mobilization of sex morality and knowledge of safe sex.
