Dynamic trend of malignant tumor incidence from 2009 to 2011 in Dongyang,Zhejiang province

Objective To understand the dynamic changing trend of malignant tumor incidence in Dongyang from the year of 2009 to 2011.Methods New cancer cases were collected based on ICD-10 encoding C00-C95 in Dongyang people′s hospital(Zhezhong Cancer hospital) from 2009 to 2011 and analyzed for the trend of cancer incidence and distribution among different age and gender group.Results A total of 5932 cases with malignant tumors were reported in Dongyang area from 2009 to 2011,of which 3564 were males and 2368 were females.The reporting incidence increased from 211.07/100 000 in 2009 to 266.78 in 2011 with the average of 241.69 per 100 000 population.Lung cancer was the most common malignant tumor,followed by stomach,colorectum,liver and breast cancer,accounting for 59.91% of all malignant tumors.Except for the incidence of thyroid cancer which was higher in females than in males(4.71 times),all the other cancer incidences were all higher in males.Regardless of gender,the cancer prevalence started climbing up from age 30 and reached the peak around 70.Under the age of 40,the incidence was higher in female than in male(p0.01),while it was lower in female over the age of 50(P0.01).Conclusions The incidence of malignant tumors in Dongyang remains in a higher level and will continue go up for a long period of time in the future.
