Wang Shunxiaug; Gao Qixin; Wei Jingjian;Duan Zhiyou(Lasoratory of Biochemistry,Henan Tumor Institute)
The level of urinary polyamines of 424 patients with different kinds of cancer was assayed. Results showed that urinary polyamines were significantly higher than those in normal subjects. There had been 0.22~8.14 times rise in their putrescine,0.11~4.50times rise in their spermidine, and 2.76~17.31 times increase in their spermine.Of the 424 patients,88% to 100% had a rise in one of the three polyamines;while 60.87% to 96.67%had an increase in two of the three polyamines. From the electrophoregram,a histaminelike substance was detected between their putrescine and spermidine, and its value was alsohigh, being 0.55~3.77 times higher than the normal value, with 33.33% to 100% of the patients having such a rate of elevation. For 21 cases of cancer treated with surgical operation and two cases treated with chemotherapy, reassay was made in thier urinarypolyamines. Results showed all had a reduced rate of polyamines after teatment. It can be seen that this assay can be used as useful auxiliary method in the clinical diagnosis and therapeutical evaluation of different kinds of cancers.
