The Influence of Potassium Levels on the Accumulation and Distribution of Potassium in Tobacco after Removal of the Apical Bud

Through sand or solution culture, we studied the influence of potassium rates on the potassium accumulation in tobacco after removal of the apical bud. The results showed that removal of apical buds promoted the growth of tobacco, increased biomass. Potassium could move actively in tobacco plant. In treatment without potassium added, the potassium transported largely from tobacco root to leaves; Potassium application significantly increased the potassium concentration in tobacco. Removal of the apical bud decreased the potassium concentration and content, but the potassium accumulation in leaves increased, especially the upper leaves increased significantly.
