Somatic embryogenesis from immature cotyledons of soybean and analysis of correlative factors

WANG Ping, WU Ying, YANG Wu-jie, WANG Gang ( Research Center for Plant Genetic Engineering, The Quatermaster University of PLA, Changchun 130062, China )
Somatic embryogenesis was induced with immature cotyledons of 10 varieties in Northeast soybean cultured in MS medium containing 2,4-D (20mg/L). The relationship of seed traits and frequency of somatic embryogenesis was studied. The results showed that correlation coefficients of length of immature cotyledon and frequency of somatic embryogenesis was negatively significant. However, there was correlation between time of picking pod and maturity stage.
