The change of phytochelatins and metallothioneins-like in soybean roots and leaves under Al stress

Phytochelatins(PC) and metallothioneins-like(MTL) have been suggested as two potential biomarker for evaluating metal phytoxicity.However,there is no report that these two have existed in plants under Al stress.This study aimed to investigate the correlations between Al toxicity and production of PCs and MTL in soybean(Glycine max Merrill).This study had Al treatments in various time and concentration through solution culture.Results showed that little PCs could be detected in roots and leaves of soybean under Al stress,which could be caused by shorter inducing time or PCs were not responsive to Al stress.The content of GSH and MTL were more sensitive to Al stress,though they presented in different change patterns.GSH and MTL could be effective response index to Al stress.
