Objective To study the disease progression and prognosis in patients with breast cancer complicated with type 2 diabetes. Methods A total of 150 female breast cancer patients admitted to Liyuan Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January2015 to July 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, patients with breast cancer complicated with type 2 diabetes were included in the observation group, and patients with breast cancer wihout type 2 diabetes were included in the control group with 75 patients in each group. Production time, primary tumor size, lymph node metastasis, tumor infiltration rate, estrogen and progesterone receptors( ER and PR) negative expression rate and human epidermal growth factor( HER-2) positive expression rate were compared between the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in primary tumor size between the two groups( P 0. 05). The lymphatic metastasis( more than 3 lymph nodes) rate was 33. 3%for the observation group which was significantly higher than 12. 0% in the control group( P 0. 05). The grade Ⅲ tumor infiltration rate was 46. 7% for the observation group which was higher than 22. 7% of the control group( all P 0. 05). The negative expression of ER in the observation group( 58. 7%) was significantly higher than 41. 3% of the control group, the negative expression of PR in the observation group( 61. 3%) was higher than in the control group( 44. 0%),and the positive expression of HER-2 was higher in the observation group( 66. 7%) than in the control group( 45. 3%)( all P 0. 05). Conclusion Patients with breast cancer complicated with type 2 diabetes have severe disease, poor prognosis and high mortality. Type 2 diabetes may be the key factor leading to poor prognosis in patients with breast cancer.
