Postoperative care of six infants and children with Littre's hernia

This paper summarizes the postoperative care of six infants and children with Littre's hernia undergoing wedge resection of Meckel diverticulum or the joint operations including bowel resection,entero-anastomosis, and high ligation of hernial sac. The key points in nursing were management of the femoral incision and scrotum, maintenance of the drainage tubes, close observation of the wound and defecation, detection of any changes of abdominal symptoms, fever treatment, total parenteral nutrition and active prevention of postoperative complications. No recurrence and complications such as intestinal adhesion were observed within seven months to three years after the operation.
