EFFECTS OF RADIX ANGELICAE SINENSIS ON PORTALHEMODYNAMICS IN NORMAL AND CIRRHOTIC DOGS

ffects of Radix Angelicae Sinensis(RAS)on systemic and portal hemodynamics wereinvestigated in normal(n=6)and cirrhotic dogs(n=8),induced by bile duct ligation.Thepresent study showed that,after intravenous administration of RAS(80mg/kg/min),in thenormal MAP was significantly decreased(19.45vs.17. 34kPa,P 0,02),HR and IVCP wereunchanged, but in the cirrhotics the were not affected.In contrast to, portal hemodynamicsin the normal did not change compared with the basal levels, whereas WHVP (2.42± 0.80 vs.1.79± 0.76kPa, P0.001),HVPG(1.69± 0.70 vs,1.06± 0.68kPa,P0.001).Ppv(2.50± 0.79 vs.1.81 ± 0.74kPa, P0.001) and Rpv(0.89± 0.48 vs.0.58 ± 0.40kPa.s/L,P0.01)in the cirrhoticswere remarkebly reduced,portal blood flow was not defferent to that before treatment.Theresults suggest that RAS is a safe,effective traditional Chinese medicine treating portalhypertension.
