Tool Breakage Feature Extraction and Optimization in Milling Using Acoustic Emission

Tool breakage monitoring is crucial to automated fabrication.A tool breakage feature extraction method in milling is presented in this paper.The acoustic emission signal is analysed by wavelet transform.The decomposed signal's energy ratio at each frequency band is computed as monitoring features.Through orthogonal test and analysis,it is proved that this method not only can effectively reflect the tool breakage,but also insensitive to cutting parameters.
