Research on Thermal Error Measurement Technology of Principal Axis

As thermal error has been one of the main factors affecting the accuracy of precision machining centers,it is of crucial importance for precision improvement of machining centers to reduce the thermal error.By thermal error measurement and modeling,the effect of the thermal error can be eliminated to some extent and the machining precision can be improved.Taking the precision vertical machining center VDM55 as the object of the study,based on the analysis of sources and styles of the thermal error,temperature and thermal error of the machining center principal axis are measured through designed temperature and thermal error measurement system with being inexpensive and high measurement precision and simple structure.Real and effective thermal error data of the principal axis is obtained through reasonablely designed thermal error measurement experiments.The analysis results of the measurement data prove that the method shows great application value on the research of the thermal error laws and thermal error modeling of the machining center.
