Effect of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) on Cell Proliferation,Microvasculature and Blood Flow in Transplanted Tumor of Mice

In order to approach further the mechanism of PDT, we observed the change of morphology, cytokinetics, microcirculation in transplanted tumor tissues of forestomach carcinoma of mice subcutaneously. The result indicated that the proliferation of tumor cells was rapidly inhibited by PDT in a short time, and the content of DNA and label index of tumor cells were decreased. After PDT, the slight damage of endothelial cells was early noticed, then the microvasculature damage was further displayed in tumor tissues,such as vasodilatation,aggregation of erythrocytes, blood stasis, hemorrhage, microthrombosis and microvascular destruction etc. The relation between the PDT and tumorous microcirculation or tumorous proliferation was discussed in this article, too.
