A clinical analysis of 22 cases of acute cerebrovascular accident complicated by acute myocardial infarction

Objective To study the clinical characteristics of acute cerebrovascular accident(ACVA) complicated by acute myocardial infarction(AMI) in aged patients so as to promote clinical treatment.Methods Twenty-two elderly cases of ACVA complicated by AMI were retrospectively analyzed and the clinical data reviewed.Results AMI occurred within 6 hours to 8 days following ACVA. The sites of AMI were inferior wall in 7 cases,anterior wall in 5,anteroseptal in 3, anteroseptal plus inferior in 4,inferior plus lateral in 2 and non-Q wave infarction in one.Fourteen patients had various underlying diseases before admission.During the period of hospitalization complications of various kinds appeared in 16 cases.Nine patients died. Conclusion These results showed that symptoms of AMI occurring in ACVA patients were atypical and treatments were complicated and sometimes contradictory.
