A woman with enterocolitis, ileus and short gut syndrome received a complete cadaveric intestinal transplantation on Mar. 12. 1994. The warm ischemia time was 6 minutes and the cold ischemia, 9 hours and 45 minutes. One-step orthotopic transplantation was performed with the terminal ileum enterostomized. The immunosuppressive therapy consisted of Cyclosporine, Tripterygium Wolfordii and Methylprednisolone. The patient is alive and the function of the graft is resuming. The successful result of this case suggests that small-bowel transplantation has moved towards becoming a practical clinical service in China.
