CHROMOSOME STUDY ON PATIENTS WITHSECONDARY LEUKEMIA FOLLOWING BIMOLANETHERAPY FOR PSORIASIS

Xue Yongquan; Lu Daru; Guo Yu; et al(Jiangsu Institute of Hemarology, Suzhou, 215006)
his paper first reported the results of chromosomestudy on 14 consecutive secondary leukemia followingbimolane therapy. All cases had suffered from psoriasisfor 2 ̄20 vears and received bimolane treatment of totaldoses ranged from 40 to 400g before the occurence oftheir leukemia.Chromosome analysis of bone marrow cells withbanding techniques revealed clonal karyotypicabnormalities in all cases : t(15 ; 17) in 8 cases of M_3, t(8; 21) in 3 cases of M_2, del (7q) in both M_4 and M_5This study indicated that this series of leukemia mightbe therapy related leukemia (TRL) induced by bimolanetreatment for psoriasis, and that there might existanother subgroup of TRL characterized by specificchromosomal translocations, which had some clinical.hematological and prognostic features different fromclassical TRL characterized by chromosomeabnormalities involving chromosome 5 and/or 7.
