OXlDATlVE DAMAGE OF PLASMA MEMBRANE-BOUNDENZYWES OF POLYMORPHONUCLEAR LEUKOCYTEAND THE EFFECT OF lH-764-3 AGAlNST DAMAGE

olymorphonuelear leukocytes(PMN)stimulatedwith phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) induced the de-creases of plasma membrane-bound enzyme activities ofPMN themselves.The activities of alkaline phosphatase(ALP),5'-nucleotidase (5'-NT) and neutral endopepti-dase(NEP)decreased to 36.61 %,58.53% and30. 79%,respectively.The test of and H_2O_2 pro-duction supported that the damage of the plasma mem-brane-enzymes of PMN was caused by reactive oxygenintermediates (ROI).IH-764-3, an active monomercomponent from Chinese herbs, showed the protectiveeffect to plasma membrane-bound enzymes against theoxidative damage,which was related to inhibit the gen-eration of H_2,O_2 by activated PMN themselves.
