Study on the Characters of Seed Germination in Soybean under Drought Stress Simulated by Polyethyleneglycol(PEG)

To explore the germination characteristics of soybeans under drought conditions,five typical varieties from Shanxi Province were used(Jindou 36,Jindou 19,Jinyi 31,Jinda 70,and Fendou 79),and the PEG-6000,with five concentrations(0%,5%,10%,15%,20%),was employed to simulate drought stress.The first day germination rate,germination potential,germination rate and germination index were analyzed.The results showed that the first day germination rate of Jindou 19(54.3%)was significantly lower than the other 4varieties which the difference was not significant,and the difference between 0%and 5%treatments was not significant,but significantly higher than the other 3treatments which the difference was extremely significant.As germination potential,Fendou 79(96.3%)was the highest,Jinda 70 was the second which the difference was not significant,significantly higher than Jindou 19,the germination potential was decreased with the increasing concentrations of PEG,the differences among 0%,5%,10% were not significant,but it is significantly higher than 15% and 20% which the difference was also very significant.The germination rate of Fendou 79(99.7%)was the highest,which was significantly higher than Jindou 36,and the 20%treatment was very significantly lower than other treatments.The germination index was increased with the concentration of PEG decreased,the 20%treatment was very significantly lower than that of 15%,They were extremely significantly lower than the other 3treatments which the difference was not significant.Therefore,it was different about drought resistance characteristics of different soybean varieties,and it was different about the overall drought resistance and drought resistance performance at different stages.The PEG-6000 concentration of 15%-20% was an ideal screening index for drought resistance.
