Study on the changes of thyroid hormone and soluble interleukin 2 receptor in patients with congestive heart failure

Zhao Tieqiang, Cui Lin, Meng Fanchao, et al. Department of Cardiology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, Harbin 150001
Objective To investigate the changes and significance of thyroid hormone and soluble interleukin 2 receptor(sIL 2R) in congestive heart failure (CHF) patients. Methods 68 patients with CHF and 60 healthy subjects were chosen for this study. Thyroid hormones were determined with radioimmunoassay and sIL 2R with sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, ejection fraction (EF) and cardiac index (CI) were measured with twodimensional echocardiographic method. Results (1)In CHF groups FT 3 decreased and rT 3 increased significant, they correlated with EF and CI, but not with cause of CHF;(2)sIL 2R increased obviously in CHF groups, it correlated with the severity of CHF, its level in dilated cardiomyopathy is significantly higher than that in rheumatic heart disease and coronary artery disease( P 0 01);(3)sIL 2R correlated with FT 3 and rT 3 (γ=-0 53,γ=0 67). Conclusion Both thyroid hormone and sIL 2R changed much in CHF patients and they may be involved in the progress of CHF. [
