Relationships between restoring genes for wild-abortive type anddian-1 type CMS rice lines:

The relationships between the restoring (Rf) genes for wild-abortive (WA) type and dian-1 type cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) lines were analyzed by using wide-compatible WA type CMS line 02428A and F 6 and F 8 progenies of Minghui63/02428 The results revealed that the Rf genes for WA type and dian-1 type CMS lines are not allelic, and are independent to each other Some of the japonic restorng lines for dian-1 type CMS lines in current use possess Rf genes for WA type CMS lines Like wise, the indica restoriing lines for WA type CMS lines also contain Rf gene(S) for dian-1 type CMS lines These two groups of Rf genes could be integrated into individual plants through gene recombinatoin
