Tagging of a gene for aroma in rice by RAPD and RFLP (Ⅱ)

A 0 5 kb fragment was obtained by digesting with restriction enzyme NcoⅠ from the 1 5 kb band amplified by RAPD primer Jas 1 5 in CT9993 and developed into an RFLP marker named jas 500 Aromatic evaluation in the progenies of the cross indicated the presence of a major gene in KDML 105 A recessive locus for jasmine-like aroma in KDML 105 was detected and mapped between RFLP markers jas 500 and C222 on chromosome 8 The distance between jas 500 and aro gene was estimated to be 15 8 cM, and C222 is on the other side of aro gene at a distance of 27 8 cM Closely linked RFLP marker jas 500 as well as RAPD marker Jas 1 5 may facilitate early selection for aroma gene in rice breeding programs.
