Effects of Seed Soaking Pretreatment of NaCl on Drought Resistance in Seed Germination Stage of Rice

The effects of pretreatment of NaCl on the drought resistance in seed germination stage of rice were studied by soaking seeds with 0,50,100,150 and 200 mmol/L of NaCl and then simulating drought stress with 100 g/L of PEG-6000.The results showed that the drought stress inhibited the seed germination and seedling growth of rice.The seed soaking pretreatments with 50~150 mmol/L of NaCl could decrease the electrical conductivity of rice seed and protect the integrity of cell membrane,resulting in improvement of the seed germination rate and alleviation of the seedling growth inhibition under the conditions of drought stress.
