THE RELATION OF NYCHTHEMERAL RHYTHM OF BLOOD PRESSURE AND THE LEFT VENTRICULAR HYPERTROPHY

Twenty-four-hour dynamic blood pressure was measured in 16 cases of simple primaryhypertension, 16 cases of primary hypertension with left ventricular hpypertrophy (LVH)as wellas in l6 normal controls. The results showed that the day and night systo1ic pressure was well related to LVH. (r=0. 7670,P0. 001; r=0. 7969, P0. 001). The percentage of decrease innight blood pressure of LVH group was significantly different from that of simple primary hypertension group. It suggested that the mean systolic pressure and the nychthemeral rhythm ofblood pressure might have important effect on the LVH.
