Zheng Xie's Virtuous Official Deeds from His Xing Shu Pan Ci Ce

Zheng Banqiao(Zheng Xie) was one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, a master of poetry, literature, calligraphy and painting. He served as the magistrate for twelve years successively in Fanxian county and Weixian county in Shangdong province. He earned an good reputation as an honest and virtuous official who cared for his people. Xing Shu Pan Ci Ce[行书判词册]collected in the National Museum of China is an album of Zheng Banqiao's court verdicts when he worked as the magistrate in Fanxian county that were collected and mounted because of his eminence in calligraphy. Its content involved marriage, property, farmhouses and land and it was a reflection of how Zheng Banqiao administrated the county and heard the cases. Xing Shu Pan Ci Ce has being an artistic treasure over the ages, in which Zheng Banqiao's calligraphic talent was displayed through the written words.
