Protective Effects of the Polyphenols of Vitis amurensis Rupr against Ethanol-induced Oxidative Injury in Rat Testes

Objective To study protective effects of the polyphenols of Vitis amurensis Rupr(PVAR) against ethanol-induced oxidative injury in rat testes.Methods The rats were pretreated with PVAR before deal ethanol.Ninety days later,the rats were killed in order to measure the activities of Superoxide Dismutase(SOD) and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-px) and the contents of Reactive Oxygen Species(ROS) and Malon-dialdehyde(MDA) in rat spermary.Results Compared with ethanol group,the contents of ROS and MDA significantly decreased and that the activities of GSH-px and SOD increased in PVAR(400 mg/kg) group testes(P0.05).Conclusion PVAR as a preventive antioxidant can protect against ethanol-induced injury in rat testes,which may be associated with free radicals elimination,lipid per-oxidation reaction inhibition.
