Analysis of hypertension morbidity among floating population of Sichuan in 2012

Objective To analyze the morbidity and main influencing factors in floating population of Sichuan province and to provide the base for preventive measures. Methods A total of 2 373 adults were selected from 8 surveillance points of Sichuan in the 2012 China chronic and non-communicable disease surveillance with floating population, and the hypertension morbidity and health services utilization were investigated. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of hypertension.Results The hypertension morbidity in floating population was 17.4%, hypertension morbidity(20.9%) in males was significantly higher than that(13.1%) in females(P0.01). Awareness rate, treatment rate and control rate of hypertension in floating population were 28.4%, 74.4% and 29.9%. The management rate of hypertension was 26.4% and 66.7% of patients did not participate in hypertension management. 6.9% of patients did not know the hypertension management in communities was free of charge. The main influence factors of hypertension in floating population were age, gender, education levels and body mass index(BMI).Conclusion It is urgent to take the three-level prevention strategy for hypertension, establish a medical insurance system suitable for the floating population's demands, enhance the health knowledge education for the floating population and lead them to utilize reasonably the community health services.
