A Rapid Method for Evaluation of Resistance in Soybean to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in the Field Condition

【Objective】 The objective of the study was to establish a rapid and effective method for evaluation of resistance in soybean to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in the field condition. 【Method】 The isolates of S. sclerotiorum from different geographical regions and host-plants were cultured in the PDA culture medium. Mycelium from the culture was used for preparation of wheat seed inocula. The method for evaluation of resistance to soybean white mould in the field condition was established using silver paper trussing inoculum with minimally invasive on the soybean plants. 【Result】 There were significant differences in the DSI and the lesion length to S. sclerotiorum among cultivars,among isolates,and there was no significant difference among replicates. The lesion length was significantly correlated with the DSI (r = 0.8301,P0.001). 【Conclusion】 The method for evaluation of resistance to S. sclerotiorum in the field condition can effectively identify the pathogenicity of S. sclerotiorum and screen the resistance to S. sclerotiorum for soybean breeding.
