Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Physiological Characteristics and Grain Yield of Maize

Effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF):Glomus mosseae(G.m),Glomus versifome(G.v), Sclerocystis sinousa(S.s),Gigaspora rosea(Gi.r)on physiological charcteristics and grain yield of maize were investigated under field condition from 1994 to 1996.Results showed that AMF were able to increase the root activity of absorption and root vigor;to improve the mineral nutrition and water status;and to enhance leaf photosynthesis and growth of maize plant. Among the four species,the effects of G.m, G.v were better.The increasing percentage of yield of maize inoculated alone with G.m and G.v separately were 23.1 and 25.4 respectively compared with the control,while it was 12.6 and 16.7 respectively in treatments with calcium superphosphate (750kg·ha -1 ) fertilization plus the same inoculation.
