Changes in Activities and Eletrophretic Patterns of Peroxidase and Polyphenoloxidase in Cucumbers During Infection with Cladosporium cucumerinum

Dynamic changes in activities and electropherograms of peroxidase (PO) and polyphenoloxidase (PPO) from leaves during infection with Cladosporium cucumerinum were studied in resistant and susceptible cucumber cultivars. The results showed that PO activities in resistant cultivars were significantly higher than those in susceptible cultivars all the time, while PPO activities displayed a greater increase in resistant cultivars than those in susceptible cultivars in the initial days during infection, but there were no significant difference between them in late stage. 3～5 and 1～2 new distinct PO isoenzyme bands appeared in resistant and susceptible cultivars respectively; 3 new PPO isoenzyme bands produced in both resistant and susceptible cultivars after inoculation, but occuring time was 2 days later in susceptible cultivars than that in resistant cultivars.
