Effects of CPPU, GA 3 Treatments on Fruit Development of Fujiminori Grape and the Possible Mechanisms Involved

In the experiments, CPPU and GA 3 applied separately or in mixture substantially increased the final weight of fruit clusters and the setting percentage of berries by postbloom dipping of the clusters. The CPPU+GA 3 treatment made the berry weight 75% higher than that of the control and a 5 fold increase in weight of peduncle. Moreover, it reduced the total titrable acid content and the shape index of the berries with no obvious effect on other berry qualities. As shown by anatomical study, the treatment stimulated cell division in the early stage and promoted cell enlargement in the late stage of berry development, which was responsible for the production of larger berry. It was also found that the content of endogenous hormones was higher in CPPU+GA 3 treated berries, particularly an increase in IAA content during early stage of berry development.
