Context-shifting:The Crux of Attributor Contextualism

YIN Wei-kun;School of Public Administration,South China Normal University;
The skepticism problem is the core problem of epistemology.The contextualist thinks that the key point to solve the skepticism problem is to recognize the contextual sensitivity of knowledge-ascribing.The skeptic denies the ordinary knowledge precisely by creating a skepticism context,and raising the truth-condition of knowledge-ascribing.Therefore,the contextualist divides cognitive context into the ordinary context and the skepticism context,argues that knowledge-ascribing has a different truth-condition in different context,and that knowledge-ascribing is not true in the skepticism context,but is true in the ordinary context.So,the contextualist not only rescues the ordinary knowledge,but also explains the persuasiveness of skepticism.But the anti-skeptical program of contextualism encounters problems of relativism,epistemic ascent and epistemic descent.The key to solve those three problems is to put forward the mechanism of context-shifting.So far,contextualists have not been able to giving this mechanism,so it becomes a crux of problems of contextualism.
