Development and Application of the Operational System for Solar Energy Assessment Based on ArcEngine Technology

Meteorological data,satellite remote sensing data,and geographic data have been the primary data sources.The Delphi program language was adopted and the ArcEngine based on the COM groupware technique was taken as the bottom development platform to develop an operational system for solar energy assessment in Shaanxi Province in this work.The operational system is comprised by four modules,i.e.,solar radiation data management module,solar energy calculation module,solar energy assessment module,and production module.Solar radiation horizontal and distributed models over mountainous terrains are the core components in the solar energy calculation module of the system.The operational system can run in operating systems of WindowsNT/2000/XP,and has better compatibility,portability,friendly user interface,and powerful functions.It can also read,write,display,and search for solar radiation data,accurately calculate and evaluate solar energy over horizontal and mountainous terrains at different time scales.It provides the following advantages.First,solar radiation data from meteorological stations and radiation monitoring stations can be stored into the database,which can be read,written,and managed in real time.Then the data will be called and displayed by client,finally achieving integrative management for spatial and vector data.Second,the operational system can calculate solar energy over horizontal and mountainous terrains at varying time scales.Results can be added up and performed statistical analysis in regional units,and also be evaluated in richness,stability, reserves,availability,and utility value,and finally be displayed in a raster image or data sheet.All the geographic information can display overlay,making full use of the advantages of GIS.In summary,the operational system can effectively solve problems associated with solar energy calculation and assessment,improving solar energy operation.In the meanwhile,the social service ability of the operational system will be further developed corresponding to large-scale development and utilization of solar energy resources in Shaanxi Province.It would provide high-quality,timely and effective information to the government,relevant departments and institutions,and offer better service for reasonable evaluation and effective utilization of solar energy resources.
