Synthesis and Characterization of Eu~(3+) Activated Tungstate Red-emitting Phosphors for White-LEDs

A series of red-emitting phosphors KGd(WO_4)_2: Eu~(3+)were synthesized by high-temperature solid-state reaction.The analysis by X-ray diffraction indicates that the phosphor synthesized at 1000℃ has a single phase of KGd(WO_4)_2. It can be effectively excited by ultraviolet(394 nm) and biue(465 nm) light, emitting a satisfactory red performance. The influence of Eu~(3+)concentration,the soaking time and different fluxes on the luminescence properties were studied. The results show that it is a promising material for near-UV/blue InGaN-based white LED.
