The inter-spike intervals (ISI) of thirty-one cerebellar Purkinje cells (PC) were analysed with the statistic method which based on the stochastic point process theory and message analysis method, and the influences of stimulating C-and A-fibers of saphenous nerve on ISI were examined. According to the peak value of distribution of the short ISI in the normalized ISI histogram, the PC-SS was divided into two groups (low and high peak groups). The C-fiber input elicited the peak value (distribution slop) of low peak group decrease, but the peak pdf value had no significant change; the peak pdf value of high peak group decrease, but the peak value had no significant change. The A-fiber input elicited the peak pdf value of low peak group increase, the peak value decrease, but the high peak value group had no significant change. It was indicated that C- and A-fiber inputs could affect the Short ISI distribution of PC-SS, but the effect of A-fiber input was different from the one of C-fiber input. The joint ISI distribution histogram of PC-SS showed that the joint ISI concentrated on the short-short area, and the numbers of the continuous short ISI were large. The C-fiber input elicited the dispersed tendency of the distribution of joint ISI and the numbers of continuous short ISI decrease; but the A-fiber input did not elicited changes.It was indicated that the C-fiber input could affect the relationship between front ISI and behind ISI, the A-fiber input, however, had no significant influence. The stimulation of the C-fiber caused the increases in mean value of total ISI and the mean value of long ISI, but the mean value of short ISI had no significant change, suggesting that the C-fiber input evoked the mean value of total ISI increase by increasing the mean value of long ISI. The stimulation of A-fiber had no significant influence.
