Antithrombogenicity of Polyhexymethylene Carbonate Polyurthane Urea

To evaluate antithrombogenicity of polyhexymethylene carbonate polyurethane urea (PCU) synthesized. Dynamic clotting time test, platelet adhesion test, microsphere column test, and antithrombin activity test were used and Chronoflex and glass specimens were used as control. The results of PCU specimens were compared with those of Chronoflex (American product) and glass specimens. The dynamic clotting time test showed that blood clotting rates of PCU and Chronoflex was lower than that of glass. Blood clotting extent of PCU and Chronoflex was less than that glass. The platelet adhesion test and microsphere column test indicated that the number of platelets adhered on surface of PCU and Chronoflex specimens was less than that glass. The deformation was lighter than the glass. The antithrombin activity test demonstrated that the KPTT, PT,TT values of PCU and Chronoflex were longer than those of glass.[Conclusion] PCU displays as good for antithrombogenicity as that of American product Chronoflex.
