Comparative Study of Power Sources of Small Passenger Cars Based on Life Cycle Assessment

Typical models of pure electric vehicle,hybrid vehicle,fuel vehicle and natural gas vehicle in China were selected,and the energy consumption and environmental impacts were quantified and compared by life cycle assessment method. The average primary energy consumption of pure electric vehicles,hybrid vehicles,fuel vehicles and natural gas vehicles per kilometer were 1. 74 MJ,2. 19 MJ,2. 28 MJ,2. 94 MJ respectively,which meant pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles could save primary energy by 19. 7% and 4. 4% compared with fuel vehicles for the same distance. From the perspective of life cycle environmental impact,acidification potential and global warming potential of fuel vehicles were higher than other vehicles,and the promotion of pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles could reduce emissions in SO_2,NO_X,CO and other pollutants. According to the sensitivity analysis,reduction of proportion of coal power,coal consumption for electricity generation,increase of the rates of desulfurization and denigration could contribute to emissions reduction of pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles.
