Evaluation on the resistance of different carnation cultivars to fusarium oxysporum

The resistance of 30 carnation cultivars to fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.dianthi, race 2) was identified and evaluated with relative resistance index by using soil-inoculation during 2000~2002.The results indicated that there was significant difference between their resistances in different planting time.The difference between the two years was also significant.Among the 30 materials tested, there were no immune cultivars to be found, and the highest resistant ratio was 16.7%. The moderate resistance, moderate susceptibility and high susceptibility ratios were 40.0%, 13.3% and 30.0%, respectively.The resistance of red cultivars is low, and 70% of them were susceptible, while the resistance of cultivars of compound color is high, and 89% of them were resistant.In this study, the results of resistance evaluation were consistant during the two years.The method can be used as a basic identification method of carnation resistance to Fusarium oxysporum in China.
