In order to choose suitable tools and methods for cotton mirid monitoring and forecasting, three lamps with different light resources, namely frequency oscillation No.12,No.16 and black light, were tested for their trapping effects in Cangxian(Hebei Province)and Yuncheng(Shandong Province)during2011-2012.Frequency oscillation No. 12 and No.16lamps are more effective than black light lamp in trapping the adults of cotton mirids, with earlier emergence date and more obvious population peak;population dynamics in these two lights are more consistent with those in the commercial cotton fields. Therefore, frequency oscillation No.12 and No.16light lamps are suitable for application and extension as monitoring and forecasting tools for cotton mirid adults in the Yellow River Valley.
